Google Voice

There is a way to get two phone numbers on one cell phone: Google Voice.  This uses VOIP through the Google Voice app and will let you choose a second phone number for your phone.  I use mine for Android tech support for my customers.  If you want to distinguish between people calling your cell phone number and your GV number simply go into settings through the web application on your computer and select "display google voice number".  This way when someone calls it will show your GV number instead of the usual caller ID.

Every Day App: Easy Cache Cleaner

I found a really great app to help with the force close problem.  It clears the cache on several apps.  It is called Easy Cache Cleaner.  Enjoy!

Everyday App: Urban Spoon

I thought of another great app for when you're out of town: Urbanspoon.  This app basically will help you decide where to eat when you're out of your element or just can't think of anywhere to eat.  Here is the QR.

Everyday App: Carrr Matey

With a seemingly infinite universe of apps on the Android Play Store, some hand holding is sometimes necessary to find which ones are useful.  Last football season I remember using Carrr Matey when I had to park a few miles from our tailgate spot.  This app helped me keep track of where I parked.  It is straight forward and easy to use.  Scan the code with your Droid to try it out!

Force close issue

Q: Why do Android applications "force close"?
A:  The short answer is that they are not coded properly for a certain environment.  For example, if you have an app that is coded to access an HDMI port on your phone but your phone doesn't have an HDMI port then it may force close.
S: If you go into settings< Applications< Manage Applications then find the application that is force closing and click on it.  You will then see multiple grey boxes, click the one that says "clear cache".  If there was corrupt data in the application that should clear it out.
